Our main requisite to come stay with us is that the person voluntarily submits to our program that lasts a minimum of 6 months up to 12 months. Some restrictions apply; please read until the end.
Free the Oppressed Foundation is a non-profit organization; therefore, we do not charge for our services. However, there are certain monthly expenses that our foundation must make that are generated directly by each person who enters the rehab program. These expenses include food, electricity, drinking water (all our water is pumped using electricity), staff, and building maintenance. For this reason, we need each person admitted to the rehab program to cover the expenses that we have just mentioned, and this requires that the intern or his/her family make a contribution of $700 per month; in addition, there is a one-time payment of $20 for a set of books that he/she will use during his/her rehabilitation. The intern will have to bring the money for their first month's expenses with them at the time of admission and subsequent contributions must be made each month in advance directly at our offices or through a deposit to our bank account.
Other expenses are optional: For example, they can also bring extra money for personal expenses; occasionally they will go out into town under supervision to buy snacks or soft drinks. You should also keep in mind that they will need to replenish their personal hygiene items periodically; if these cannot be brought to Zambrano please bring enough money for that purpose. We keep interns' personal money in the office and give it to interns only when needed and used under supervision; we are not responsible for money lost or stolen while in the care of the intern. In addition, if there are any medical expenses, the intern must cover them. (We suggest a budget of $100 a month for foreigners.)
IMPORTANT: Do not deposit money for personal expenses in the foundation’s bank account; please call our offices for instructions on how to send those funds through a wire transfer.
Foreigners, in addition, when entering must already have their air ticket back to their country of origin.
It is very important he/she brings the blood test results for:
COVID-19 swab test
HIV/AIDS*
Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C
Tuberculosis
VDRL (syphilis).
Women need to bring the results of a pregnancy test.
*We are unable to receive persons who are HIV positive or have AIDS; we lack the infrastructure for their proper care.

He or she will need his/her Bible, notebooks and pens, cold weather clothes (nights can go down to the 40’s Fahrenheit in the winter and we don’t have indoor heating), clothes for church, clothes for work. We provide toilette paper; he/she will need all his/her other personal toiletries. He/she will need to bring or purchase here detergent so to wash his/her clothes once a week in a washing machine. He/She will need to buy his/her own dirty clothes basket and clothes hangers for the closet since he/she might not be able to carry them in his/her bags from abroad.
Please, he/she needs NOT to bring: cell phone, camera, sound systems like MP3 players or iPods, laptops, electronic games like Playstation or Gameboy. We are not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
If he/she is Honduran: Just his or her ID (or birth certificate if he’s a minor.) Do not bring credit cards, passports, or others. We are not responsible for lost or stolen documents.

For information on the visas extended by Honduras on behalf of foreign visitors and their costs, please contact the Honduran Embassy in your country before you leave to come here. We are not responsible for penalties and /or expenses incurred due to stays that extend further than the authorized duration of your visa.
You should purchase a round trip ticket to land in Palmerola International Airport (XPL), in Comayagua. Comayagua is 40 km away from Zambrano, about an hour’s drive. We can arrange to pick you up from the airport in Palmerola when you arrive and take you there when it is time to leave. We cannot provide transportation to or from any other Honduran airport; in that case, you would be responsible to drive yourself to Zambrano and back.
Each case will be evaluated individually. If the minor is eligible, the parents or legal guardians will be required to grant legal guardianship to the Rehab Center's representatives and provide a form of ID for the minor.
